Therapy Center – Retrospective

New Steps on the path of change at the Therapy Center in Ozd

Over the past year, 48 clients have moved into the Ozd Therapy Center, 10 of whom were around 20 years old. Unlike alcohol which destroys the body more slowly, drug use leads to addiction much more rapidly and at increasingly younger ages. That is why we are glad that more and more young people are aware of our existence and dare to seek help. Initially it seemed challenging for young and older individuals to undergo therapy together. Still, now, at the end of the year, we can say that this mixed group has fostered an environment of mutual acceptance, tolerance, and empathy – essential skills in the recovery process.

As every year, some residents decide to try again after multiple failed attempts. We rejoice for each person who, despite difficulties—including financial hardships—does not give up and continues to fight for sobriety even beyond the walls of the center.

The events held at the therapy center have enriched the lives of the residents. During short-term therapy programs, they took on the role of hosts, learning how to welcome guests and interact with others. At the same time, they listened to the experiences of those who had successfully broken free from addiction and gained insight into the perspective of family members and loved ones.

They also participated in the traditional summer camp, a defining experience for many residents. One of them saw climbing the Sekler Stone in Rimetea as a symbolic challenge: “If I manage to reach the top, I will succeed in completing my therapy.” For others, it was an opportunity for self-discovery, pushing their limits in both hiking and sleeping in tents –sometimes under torrential rain. The camp and excursions were entirely new experiences for many of them.

The new year brings a new opportunity for everyone. May God’s blessing accompany the lives of each resident, former resident and their families, keeping them on the path of sobriety and strengthening them in their fight to remain clean and free. And for those who seek healing but have not yet found the courage to ask for help, may they be given the strength to take their lives into their own hands and experience the joy of liberation!
