Mission Statement
Bonus Pastor Foundation aims to speak and demonstrate, in a practical way, the love of Jesus Christ to
people who suffer from alcohol-, drug- and other addictions. We offer assistance to treat the medical,
psychological and spiritual dimensions of addiction.
The Need
The need is huge: in the 23 million Romania, fifteen per cent (15%) of the adult population are estimated to
have a problem with alcohol. Drug-consumption and gambling is also a growing problem.
The Organisation
Bonus Pastor Foundation (Latin for 'Good Shepherd' Foundation) is an NGO established in Romania, with a
Reformed Christian background.
Working since 1993 and officially established in 1996 in Cluj, the Foundation works primarily in the regions of
Cluj, Tîrgu Mures and Odorheiu Secuiesc.
With the help of its 14 staff and many volunteers, BPF offers treatment, support and prevention through a wide
range of activities: treatment programs, camps, pastoral visitation, counselling, training, public awareness,
charity work and local support groups. From April 2005, BPF also offers a long-term therapy program.

BPF's programs are conducted in Hungarian.
Due to the nature of these programs, it is extremely difficult for someone to attend who does not understand
Hungarian, even if translation is available. Therefore, we cooperate with the Romanian Blue Cross (Sibiu), which runs it's programs in Romanian, referring Romanian-speaking clients to them. We also cooperate with a
group of Romanian Christians from Iaşi (formerly constituted as the Association for Community Development –
Iasi) providing together help through short-term treatment programs for Romanian-speaking clients.
To date, hundreds of people have attended our programs, many of them have experienced transformed lives
through God's grace and His use of our ministry.
